Colombia!

I took a trip to South America in March and had a great time! It was great to get back to Colombia and see Nohora and her family. I went last year but this time I was able to stay a few days longer and was able to visit other parts of the country outside of Bogota.

Nohora and I went to Cartagena, a city made famous to Americans in the movie "Romancing the Stone." I didn't see anything quite like I did in that movie. There were a lot of street/beach vendors which really made relaxing on the public beach impossible. We stuck to the pool most of the time and took a bus tour of the city. All in all it was a lot of fun and I am glad we went. I would not go back because of all the vendors but that might be something you can't escape from.

The food was fantastic. In the picture I am eating potato chips that were fried up behind me. Nohora said she never ate them before because it seemed less than a sterile environment. "No way!" But the smell of the fresh crisps and the look of immense satisfaction on my face compelled her to try one. Then two. Soon we were finished with the bag. I should have said they were terrible. Bogota was a lot of fun and I look forward to going back soon. Maybe in December or January. More about that later.

You can check out all the pictures I took on vacation at my Flickr site.

Enjoy!

Michael
